University Libraries Student Advisory Council
The University Libraries Student Advisory Council exists as a commitment to following the needs of students and incorporating their views, concerns and ideas into designing a better library system. The council advises the Dean of University Libraries and library leadership on issues related to library services, resources and spaces. They serve as a key stakeholder in advancing the Libraries’ strategic priorities and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
Membership on the Board is composed of the executive leadership of the University Libraries, representatives from library staff, and approximately six undergraduate and four graduate students.
Terms of service may vary for student representatives, but two-year terms are encouraged.
The student advisory council meets approximately two to four times during an academic year. Meetings are held at times most agreeable to the student membership, but typically meetings may occur during the noon hour or late afternoon.
The Dean will also meet individually with council members for coffee or lunch at least once a year.
Communication outside of meetings will happen on an as needed basis.
Council members will be invited to library events, including our end of semester student recognition luncheon.
